Hen Weekends in Edinburgh

Hen Weekends in Edinburgh

I know that I'm probably a bit biased having been born and raised in Edinburgh but Scotland's capital is definitely a fantastic location for a hen weekend. It is a vibrant cosmopolitan city with top class accommodation, numerous attractions, a huge restaurant scene and a vibrant nightlife that is guaranteed to give the Bride to Be and her friends some unforgettable memories of "Auld Reekie".

Here are some activities that are a little bit different to consider when visiting Edinburgh.

Midlothian Snow Sports Centre or simply "Hillend" as it's known to the locals, is set in the stunning Pentland Hills Regional Park, a few miles south of the city centre. It has various artificial slopes so you can enjoy snowsports all year round - from snowboarding to skiing to tubing. You can also try the chairlift ride if you want to enjoy amazing views of the city or walk across the Hills.

Edinburgh is one of Europe's most haunted cities. It also has a pretty gruesome but fascinating past. There are numerous ghost walking tours, bus tours or even The Edinburgh Dungeon where actors dress up and use special effects to help you learn about The Plague, Burke and Hare, Maggie Dickson and other aspects of Edinburgh's History.

Whilst there are numerous cocktail making classes available to you here in Edinburgh. Since you are in the heart of Scotland you might want to consider a whisky tasting class. The Scotch Whisky Experience is a 5 star attraction on the The Royal Mile that offers numerous tour experiences to suit everyone from a first-timer to a whisky professional!

For something a bit different, what about participating in a perfume making class? Alison, owner of Ladies Love Fragrance, will teach you about aromatics and perfumery and then she will help you to blend your own perfume that you can take away with you. She organises bespoke Hen Party Packages that everyone will love being involved in. The Bride could also wear her new signature scent on her wedding day as her "something new".

There is a huge bar and restaurant scene in Edinburgh that you can find all sorts of unusual treats from fried mars bars (yes they really do exist!) to curried haggis. However, one of my favourite bars in Edinburgh is Badger & Co which is situated right in the city centre. It is the former home of Kenneth Grahame, the author of the Wind in the Willows. I was lucky enough to be invited to their official launch party which was a super night. The decor, just like the food, is amazing! Their menu is inspired by local and seasonal produce and they also have a private dining room with its own private bar. If you happen to be there on a Sunday try their Sunday Roast, you won't be disappointed.

No matter what you decide to do in Edinburgh you are going to have an action packed, fun time. You will want to have a keepsake to remember your time here. There is no better gift than one of my personalised highland coos that I designed myself. Any message can be hand personalised on it to suit your hen party memories. Every time you look at it you will remember your wonderful weekend here.
